That's sad. But what do you expect? People only have vague surnames to go through. In my day, where I come from, we listed our entire family trees in our names. Better than forgetting.

I'm pretty sure most of my relatives were not named Dick.

Is that better, though? Knowing their names is only part of knowing them. It's easier now with cameras and video cameras, so we have more pictures and more memories that people who come later can look at.
