It is not believing it, it is being it. Why wouldn't it work in space? I have seen Celestines, the spirits of the planets of our solar system.

Connected to the physical world, the gurihal, is the shadow world, the hisil. In the hisil, spirits live. Most are small, urging those in the gurihal to act in accordance to their nature so that they get stronger. The greatest of the spirits are the Celestines, which are the spiritual counterparts of the great bodies that are in space. Mother Luna is a Celestine.

They are big dangerous spirits. I hope we do not face any. I saw one once, and barely survived the experience.
