Name: Rhea Marie Dancer Age: 26 Universe: Ad Meliora, where the people are nice and also breathe fire. Personality: Rhea is a very good liar, primarily because she rarely lies. Bright-eyed and eager, it's rare anyone realises that she explains very little about who she is, what she does, how she feels or any other personal information. She's direct to the point of occasional rudeness, blunt but willing to make up any hurt she causes, even if she doesn't understand why the other person is hurt. She uses an apparently unfailing interest in other people to cover up any of her own problems, focusing on the other person in almost every conversation to keep others at arm's length. No offence to others, but what she does, what she is, these are all confidential and she's unwilling to reveal any of that to other people.
That and she's awful at dealing with herself. It will always be easier to force down her own needs by taking care of others rather than take time to herself to work out her insecurities or her problems with her parents. About the only person she's willing to talk to about problems is Hyunsoo, and that's taken a lot of built up trust, and is still difficult to do.
She's always blamed herself for the break-up of her parent's marriage and while she's finally working past that, there are deep-seated feelings of failure in her that she'll probably never be rid of. She's always running from them and that's what fuels her constant attempts to better herself. While some girls react to abandonment by their father by seeking out other father figures, Rhea's response has been pragmatic; everyone is human, with their own fallibility. Nobody is perfect and you should be realistic about your relationships. There's no such thing as a hero, a father figure or a mother figure unless you're twelve. If you're an adult, grow up. This is a rule she only really applies to herself. Taking care of others is fine with her, but she finds the idea of looking up to anyone herself ridiculous.
She's crazy prepared with a habit of running through scenarios in her head. She acts optimistic, but honestly, Rhea is a realist with a firm grasp on the idea of positive psychology. She'll rarely obscure the truth from someone, but tries to get people to see, well, not the best in themselves. More, she tries to get them to understand and deal with their faults. She rarely pulls the wool over anyone's eyes in regards to how she sees them, but when she does it's only slight.
Rhea is sort of emotionally stunted and in any social situation she comes across as being raised by wolves books. Talk about any part of popular culture that Hyun hasn't told her about and it'll go completely over her head. She still thinks Jersey Shore is an anthropological study. She doesn't read fiction, barely keeps story threads together on TV shows and thinks a good film needs at least two velociraptors, but give her a book on cultural studies and she'll eat it up, no matter how badly written. She is basically the nerdiest nerd to ever nerd.
Strangely enough, she can be sort of leader-y when she wants to be. Rhea's assertiveness comes from the general British public school attitude and a James Bond background; she's generally calm and thoughtful, always throwing ideas and strategies around in her head. Add this to a concern for the welfare of others and a reassuring demeanor, and some people are willing to go to her for help.
She can be a dick though, when she wants. There's a streak of competitive insecurity there, which is sort of the downside of the whole emotionally stunted boarding school upbringing thing. She's not a troll, but she does love occasionally hunting her flatmate down with a nerf gun. And other, less insane things. PB: ZOOEY DESCHANEL Physical description: At 5'5, Rhea is built slender with pale skin, dark hair and large blue eyes. Her arms and legs are deceptively wiry from training, but she's still unlikely to pose a real threat to someone bigger in a straight fight. Her wavy dark hair is usually pulled back from her face in a pony-tail, to keep from ever obscuring her eyes. Rhea's smile is wide and open and almost always on her face. Still, look at her when she doesn't think she's being observed and it's usually disappeared in favour of something more pensive. She tugs her shirt collar up to hide her face when she's nervous, touches her lips or tugs on her ear for comfort when she's thinking or worried.
Rhea dislikes being touched. She was always distant when it came to physical contact, but ever since her arm got broken during a training exercise which replicated torture techniques, she prefers to have a very clear distance between herself and other people - especially if she does not know them. Physically, she's easily overpowered by those bigger than she is so she likes knowing she has options for getting out of there before people can turn on her. If you are getting touched, it means you are one of the few people she at least trusts not to turn around and physically attack her - unfortunately, that's a fairly short list of names.
Her sense of fashion is not exactly well developed. Generally she wears whatever she can find, having a tendance towards things that look vaguely business-like at work (sweaters with dress shirts beneath, skirts and leather shoes) which she switches out for things like t-shirts and jeans with deck shoes. Comfort is her number one priority. It's not unusual to see her in Oxford rugby t-shirts (she is v proud of her home town!!) with skirts or worn jeans. She covers up, partly because she sunburns incredieasy but mostly to hide any distinguishing marks. It's a habit now. Deck shoes will be pretty much all she wears on ship.
There's a heart-shaped birthmark on her chest, above her left breast.
To get up to speed, there were a bunch of people from a different world who fell through, one of which was her son from another planet, which caused a bit of tension in her friendship group. She also started going out with her best friend's twin brother. Then there was a plague and her best friend and his boyfriend died, so she and her boyfriend moved to New York to recover. She quit her double life and worked in an embassy for a while, denying Bond villains passports and being ~in wuv~. Then she moved back to Victory to become an Agent again and did that while having hilarious mishaps like people breaking into the AM and letting another version of her bf's twin into their apartment. It was all kinds of family fun. Skills: Rhea is very, very smart. She can quote Shakespeare pretty well. She has a lovely singing voice. She's also pretty good at observation. If you have a "tell" which gives away the fact that you're lying, she'll likely spot it. Strangely, not so good at poker.
She also has basic agent skills and, well, secret agent skills. Like a less trained and less gadgeted James Bond. Who can't drive and doesn't sleep with every woman she meets. Which I guess narrows that down to cool accent, the ability to sneak everywhere and marksmanship. And not losing her cool under pressure. First aid.
She also speaks German fluently, plus a little Spanish.
